Allegheny County Operation Support Team

Preface

The EMS Support Team was established to plan and mitigate EMS responses that exceed the capabilities of the local services. The team functions in a support role for local responders and County Emergency Management Personel

The EMS Operations Support Team is comprised of thre following:

> Local Paramedics and EMT's > Mass care specialist
> County EMS Officals > Event Planning Specialist
> Haz-Mat Medical Care Specialist > EMS Field Supervisiors
> Responders with other specialized training

> Allegheny County Department of Emergency Services

Mission Objective

1. Provide command support on major incident at the behest of local services
2. Provide operational support when requested by local responders
3. maintain a list of available regional resources
4. Provide medical coverage for County Haz-Mat Teams
5. Provide rehab for local agenices during major incidents
6. Foster positive networking and sharing of information between local agenices
7. Develop and presenting a training program for use in local EMT and Paramedic courses
8. Assist with planning for large scale event posting
9. Assist with staffing, on request for large scale event posting

Accomplishments

Completed the modification of the donated unit, equipping communications and medical equipment
Obtained Department of Heath ALS Licensure
With assistance of local services placed in service the Main OST Unit and Parchased 3 equipment trailer for use by local EMS agencies
Establish Medical Command for team operations
Establish a team capable of responding consisting of representives from 26 local EMS services
Placed in service donated equipment
